Swell Pours into Baja This Summer

If you've been anywhere near the coast this summer, you already know—it's been one for the

books. The coast of Baja and Southern California have had a run of swell like no other.

Southern Baja has been scoring all summer with a crazy run of south swells, delivering week after week of fun, consistent surf. Instead of the typical pattern of waiting for the next pulse, this season has proven to be different, keeping the points full of waves and making travelers, locals and all kinds of surfers stoked out of their minds.

Much of Baja's summer surf comes from storms deep in the South Pacific and hurricanes off the coast of Mexico. When those swells finally arrive, they wrap perfectly into many of Baja's iconic points, creating long, playful, 10 turn+ waves for people.

It's been the kind of season that constantly reminds us what a special place San Juanico really is. The leg burning waves, culture and strong sense community are often why people choose to come back. Seeing people get the longest wave of their life never gets old!

And the good news? We're not done yet. Summer never seems to end here in Baja.

Historically, August and September continue to produce quality south swells, often mixed with the occasional tropical pulse that can send more swell. This is typically a less crowded time of the year, along with super warm water temps.
